Description Strike photograph taken by U.S. Navy Photographer's Mate First Class P.T. Bartnett (inset) showing Japanese ships under attack at Rabaul on 8 November 1943. Shortly after taking this image, he was killed in action after the TBF Avenger in which he was flying was hit by enemy fire.
