English: Race Yate Gate. The wall here, along Race Yate Rigg, is the divide between Bowes Moor to the south and Cotherstone Moor to the north, but the gate is of little use to either skier or walker, as it won't open in the snow. This was of no consequence as I needed to cross the wall in the lower right of the photo, which could be done a little way south 1206675 simply by skiing over the drifts. The footpath sign has lost its fingerboard sometime in the past, but would have said "Pennine Way" both to NNW and SSE. By 2009, the signpost had been replaced 1567864 - it looks as though it has been there a while. |
