___________ Statement by U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel on U.S. Expo Participation in Expo 2025 and Partnership with Coca-Cola:

"We’re in! When Expo 2025 opens in Osaka, visitors from Japan and around the world will be welcomed by the sights and sounds of America. Today, I joined Japan Expo Association Secretary General Ishige and Japan Commissioner General Ambassador Haneda to announce full U.S. participation in Expo Osaka 2025. For the first time since 1988, the United States will support the design, build, and operation of the U.S. Pavilion with federal funds. The 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act includes $25 million for the pavilion—the first appropriation of its type.

I am also pleased to announce that one of America’s most iconic companies and iconic tastes, Coca-Cola, will be a key supporter of the U.S. Pavilion. After signing a Memorandum of Intent with Coca-Cola Bottlers, Japan, Coca-Cola became the first U.S. company to express its support for the United States at Expo Osaka 2025.

Today’s announcement on U.S. participation would not have been possible without the strong support of the U.S. Congress. As Senator Susan Collins of Maine stated, “The United States has long recognized Japan as a key ally, and the strong bipartisan support for the Osaka Expo underscores our commitment to Japan and the region. As the Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I remain dedicated to strengthening our strategic relationships in the Indo-Pacific region. I applaud the hard work of Ambassador Emanuel to ensure America’s strong presence at Expo 2025.” I would also like to recognize the work of Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, for her tireless efforts on this initiative and commitment to strengthening the U.S.-Japan Alliance."
