Summary edit

Description
English: Railway Fence Post. Fence guarding the railway between Bath and Bradford on Avon. This was originally built by the Great Western Railway as a broad gauge line. When it was converted to narrow (standard) gauge in the 1890s much of the old rail was saved and recycled as fence posts, among other things. There is still some of it to be seen along the Avon valley. An example of broad gauge track can be seen at The Didcot Railway Centre http://www.didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/centre_information/schematic_map_of_centre.shtml
