Summary

edit
Description
English: Railway Terrace, Derby Immediately north of Derby station, the North Midland Railway built a small triangular estate of cottages in 1841-42. These were some of the first houses constructed by any railway company specifically for its employees. In the 1970s these houses were under threat of demolition but a campaign mounted by local civic bodies succeeded in saving the houses. They were restored and reinhabited and are now part of the tourist trail round the city, with occupants proud of their heritage.
