English: Railway trackbed near Shipton Lee 3. This is the trackbed of the Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway built in the 1860s and which ran from Aylesbury to Verney Junction. The next station to the north was Granborough Road, and the station to the south was Quainton Road. The railway had a varied history, and was closed to passenger services in 1936 when the line was part of London Transport, see 379579.
Here, looking north towards Shipton Lee, the railway ran on an embankment through farmland, and slowly curved right to a crossing where Railway Cottage is today, 934094, and then on to Granborough Road 4km away. |
