Title
English: Rainier Beach Baseball Team posing with equipment, Seattle, 1923
Description
English:

As in other states, development and expansion of baseball in Washington reflected the social and economic growth of the state itself. From the 1890s forward, professional, semi-pro, and amateur leagues abounded across the entire state, often sponsored and supported by the dominant industries of their particular region. In this image, members of the Rainier Beach Baseball Team stand together in uniform, while the ball boy sits in front of them next to an arrangement of bats, balls, and gloves. The only individual identified in this image is Harry Lloyd Esthy, the fourth person from left.
