| Description | My guide Ibrahim was not particularly religious, and as for me, I am neither a Moslem nor a believer, so we exited the Juma Mosque pretty quickly as my guide had promised the guard on duty. Outside is this pleasant pool and garden set in a depression in the mosque forecourt. At the far end are probably the ramparts of the original mosque, or one of the original mosques, as the Juma Mosque has suffered destruction several times. Detailed notes about the Juma Mosque in Shemakha appeared earlier on in this album.(Shemakha (Shamakhi), Azerbaijan, Sept. 2017) |
