English: Ramparts on the NE side of Warham Fort This gives a good impression of the scale of the earthworks here - the ditch between the banks is currently about 30' deep, and in its original form is thought to have been 6' deeper than that, according to excavations in 1914 and 1959. Quite a lot of work involved in creating such large scale earthworks, especially when it was all done by hand 2000 years ago. |
