Description
English: Commissioned in 1921 by Mahatma Gandhi, Rashtriya Shala is a learning center started with a purpose to impart new national concepts. Rashtriya Shala is closely associated with the non-cooperation movement, which is one of the most important segments of Indian freedom movement. Shri Lakhajiraj, ruler of Rajkot, gave a land at nominal cost to Mahatma Gandhi to start Rashtriya Shala. Currently, the school imparts education and vocational training like manual oil pressing, khadi, cotton, ikat and patola weaving. Due to its strong connect with history; Rashtriya Shala is an important attraction of Gandhi Tourism Circuit.
