Description
English: Janakpur is one of the historical places of Nepal where Goddess Janaki was born. It is the capital city of ancient Mithila state which was ruled by King Janak, father of Goddess Sita of Hindu Mythology. It is also the birthplace of Goddess Sita. Janaki Mandir, the largest temple of Nepal is located here. Janakpur is enriched with enchanting cultural and traditional lifestyles and Maithili is the native as well major language spoken. Janakpur is also a place of hundreds of historical ponds. Thousands of pilgrims visit this place of historical importance annually.
