English: Ready for the bore These surfers have just entered the water and are waiting for the Severn Bore. One surfer is already up on the wave, having started further downstream. Two small boats are following to pick up fallers. This was a 3-star bore. But the category is dependent very much on the weather conditions on the day. The best conditions for a spectacular bore are spring tides and a stiff south-westerly wind meeting floodwater coming down the river from a few days rain. |
