Red Granite Column (Acc. 1780)

Red granite column from the hall of a temple. The column is divided into three registers of decoration. At the top: the titles and cartouches of King Ramesses II: in the middle, two scenes of Ramesses II making offerings to Her-shef, a ram-headed god. At the bottom: the titles and cartouches of Ramesses II, with the titles and cartouches of his son Merneptah incised in between.

Height: 385cm 19th Dynasty Ihnasya el-Medina, Middle Egypt
