First set up befora the temple of Amenophis III at Soleb this lion was transported with its companion, EA 2, to Gebel Barkal by the Meroitic ruler, Amanislo, in the third century BC. The names of the oiriginal owner are insribed on the pedestal and those of the usurper on the lion's chest. |
