English: Refuge. This Inn, on the A628 Woodhead Pass road from Sheffield to Manchester, has been a life saver to many stranded motorists over the years, stuck in the snowdrifts on the moors above. Yours Truly was one of them, on a winter's night in 1979. It is the only building in this square, and for some miles, approaching from the west. |
