| Description |
English: Regent's Canal, Hampstead Road Locks No 1 At one time, all of the locks on the Regent's Canal were paired like this one. Not many remain in this condition, as in most cases, one of the pair has been converted into a weir. Originally, a connecting paddle was provided between the two lock chambers. This was a water-conservation device. The paddle remains here and at two other locks, but is no longer operational. |
