Summary edit

Description
English: Reconstructed female dress (women's costume/clothing) with a simple robe (ankle-length tunic), an apron and a headscarf (veil) from the Norwegian Viking Age or Middle Ages, on display in the exhibition about women at war in the Bergenhus Fortress Museum (Norwegian: Bergenhus festningsmuseum) in Bergen, Norway:
  • During the Battle of Stiklestad in 1030, a small house in the vicinity was used as an infirmary. The woman who did the work there cleaned wounds and applied healing herbs and bandages.
See Early medieval European dress: Female dress and Women's clothing in 1100–1200 in European fashion.
