Description
English: The remains are located on the ruins of a fortification wall built in front of the facade of the odeon. The wall is possibly part of the Late Roman post-Herulian fortifications of Athens. After the pillage of Athens by the Heruli in 267 A.D. the Romans incorporated into the new fortifications the odeon. This column most probably came from the ruins of the Stoa of Eumenes which was destroyed by the Heruli and the ruins of which were used by the Romans in the new fortifications of the city.
