| Description |
On Third Avenue in downtown Seattle: Abandoned streetcar tracks in the process of being removed, as trolley buses pass by. The last streetcar service in Seattle – until the opening of the Waterfront Streetcar line in 1982, ended in April 1941, and trolley buses had begun replacing streetcars in April 1940. This view is looking north on Third between University and Union streets. On the right are the main post office building (later torn down and replaced by a new building in the same location) and the Palomar Theatre (formerly the Pantages), which closed in 1965 and was replaced by a parking garage.
