Renier Roidkin (1664-1741) erhielt vom Erzbischof von Köln Clemens August von Bayern (zu dessen Herrschaft auch die Bistümer Münstzer, Paderborn, Hildesheim und Osnabrück gehörten) den Auftrag zur Anfertigung mehrerer Bilder für Schloss Falkenlust in Brühl. Bevor Roidkin 1733 die Bilder lieferte, fertigte er mehre Skizzen an. Aus diesem Skizzenbuch, das heute beim Landeskonservator in Köln liegt, stammt auch die vorliegende Zeichnung Warburgs.
