English: Residential and business building Dresdner Strasse 40–42. First owner was the Co-operative Society Vorwärts for Dresden and surroundings. The building was erected in 1927–1928 according to the plans by architect Rudolf Bitzan (1878–1838). The previous building on the same site was used by the Co-operative Society of the Plauenscher Grund, founded in 1878, and became the 58th retail outlet of the later Co-operative Society for Dresden. The writing on the poster means:
'You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time', a well-known Abraham Lincoln quotation.
Deutsch: Wohn- und Geschäftshaus Dresdner Straße 40–42 Erbaut 1927/1928 im Auftrag des Konsumvereins „Vorwärts“ für Dresden und Umgebung nach den Plänen des Architekten Rudolf Bitzan (1878–1938). Der Vorgängerbau diente ebenfalls dem 1878 gegründeten Konsumverein für den Plauenschen Grund und beherbergte später die 58. Verkaufsstelle des Konsumvereins für Dresden und Umgebung.
