Dieser Löwe soll zugleich als Torwächter - zusammen mit dem gegenüber aufgestellten - fungieren. Das später (1616) eingefügte Schild von Hans Krumpper, auf das er seine rechte Tatze legt, wird von Passanten gerne als Glücksbringer angesehen und wird somit häufig berührt - es glänzt schon von weitem.
