Español: Retrato de Luis, hijo del pintor, óleo sobre lienzo, 64 x 42 c., 1910. Luis compartió con su padre inquietudes plásticas, viajes y lugares que ambos amaron. Por eso quiso emular su trayectoria vital y se instaló definitivamente en España, donde tuvo que realizar el servicio militar. Estuvo en Colmenar de Oreja y Madrid. Allí fue pintor y profesor de bellas artes, hasta ser movilizado en 1936. Al terminar la guerra civil española en 1939 regresó al Pirineo francés, ocupado después por las tropas alemanas durante la IIª Guerra Mundial. De carácter frágil y sensible, falleció tras las angustias y carencias sufridas durante ambas contiendas. Cultivó deseos y amistad con la bailarina Elvira Viñes Soto, hermana del pintor Hernando Viñes y sobrina del pianista y amigo de su padre, Ricardo Viñes. Fue el gran amor de su vida. Un amor no correspondido. Este lienzo a permanecido hasta hace poco en poder de la familia Checa, en concreto guerdado por la nieta del maestro, madame Jacqueline, sobrina del retratado Luis. Se trata dre un delicado boceto de escasas pinceladas, pero sutiles y precisas, que crean una atmósfera íntima. |
