English: SmartPhone format: Sixties SDS leader Michael James revisits the site of the 1968 police beatings of hundreds on sunny August afternoon in Grant Park, downtown Chicago. The audience were participants in an outreach program of Chicago's East-West University. Mostly passive, mostly white, middle class people were beaten by Chicago Police agitated by months of FBI rumor-spreading. Declared later by the government's Walker Commission to be a "police riot," the incident remains a blot on Chicago's claim to "justice for all." |
