Summary
editDescriptionRhb Bernina-Express überquert obere Berninabach-Brücke.jpg |
English: Bernina Express crossing the upper Berninabach bridge, on the very steep grade (up to 70 per mil, 1 in 14!) before the summit at Ospizio Bernina. The train is hauled by two ABe 4/4 III EMUs working in multiple. The original 1910 route of the line ran alongside the road in the foreground through this image; the track the train is on resulted from a realignment in 1934 to avoid the risk of avalanches.
