English: Rhomboid ripples on a marine sand beach in Maine, USA. (12 September 2006)

Rhomboid ripples are slender, diamond-shaped structures that occur in the swash zone of sandy beaches. They are delineated by criss-crossing grooves formed during a wave’s backwash phase.

Locality: Sand Beach, Mt. Desert Island, coastal Maine, USA (44° 19' 43.62" North latitude, 68° 10' 57.04" West longitude)
