Description

Showing framed and signed portrait of Richard Oastler, engraved by James Posselwhite after a painting by Benjamin Garside. At Oastler’s side are two volumes entitled White Slavery and Marcus. Commissioned by Feargus O’Connor, this engraving was distributed with copies of the Northern Star, 12 December 1840.

This framed engraving hangs on the wall of St Stephen's Church, Kirkstall, West Yorkshire, England. The building was designed by Stephen Dennis Chantrell and consecrated in 1829. It was renovated by Perkin and Backhouse in 1864.
