Summary edit

Description
English: Richmond Upon Thames - Kew Gardens Inside the water lily house which was built in 1852 to house giant Amazonian water lilies (Victoria amazonica).
  • However the plants did not do well and it was converted into a normal glass house in 1866 until 1991 when new heating allowed it to be converted back to its original use.
  • It might be of interest to know that the water in here is dyed black to give contrast to the lilies.
