| Description |
Urumqi, July 7th, 2009: In the evening everyone in the city was walking around with bamboo staffs, swords, metal sticks, baseball clubs, saws, kitchen knifes... Some of them even laughing about it, joking on how many Uighur they would catch. In the meantime the loudspeakers in the street kept hammering the central government propaganda: "don't listen to the Uighur, don't listen to foreigners who are spreading the germs of disorder, stay home and watch TV!" The reality is far different from the speech, though. People had already been killing each other for 3 days by then. And now, 4 months after, Uighur keep disappearing. The beautiful Harmony is only ensured with the help of the armed police, as it is to often in China. |
