Title
River Torrens looking towards Angas Gardens
Description

This image is labelled 'View of the River Torrens from Angas Gardens'. However the position of St Peter's Cathedral suggests the photograph was taken from the path on the south side of the River Torrens looking across to (not from) the Angas Gardens. The Angas Gardens were created in 1910 when Charles Angas donated 250 pounds to the City Council to beautify an area of 'bare ground' in a way similar to the nearby Pennington and Cresswell Gardens. The gardens were to commemorate his forebears George Fife Angas and John Harris Angas who had played significant roles in the colony. (Register, 8 June 1910, p10)
