Summary

Description
English: Robert Louis Stevenson's Tree, Colinton. The young Robert Louis Stevenson spent most of his summer holidays at his grandfather's manse in Colinton where he would swing under this Yew tree (to which a modern swing is attached) in the grounds of Colinton manse. Perhaps it was here that the child with a weak constitution had his first adventurous thoughts that would eventually bear fruit in 'Treasure Island' and 'Kidnapped'. 1407536
