Summary

Description
English: Rolleston Station, 1963
The historical interest may make up for the low quality of a cropped scan of a fifty-year-old enprint. A diesel multiple unit supplied to British Railways by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon (later designated Class 104) hurries through Rolleston on a Lincoln-Derby train. To its left is the old station building, long since demolished, where a bell sounded loudly to announce that a stopping train was due. The Southwell Branch platform curved away to the left, in front of the line of trees, but that service had ended four years before. The signal in the foreground is a Midland Railway one with a wooden post, but with replacement upper-quadrant arms, the distant one just visible through the foliage. Richard Croft's SK7352 : Rolleston Station (July 2012) shows the station from a similar viewpoint. Roger Geach's SK7352 : Rolleston Station looking towards Nottingham (July 2010) shows the signal, now with only one arm, from the platform.
