Roman : Vessel Sherd
Description
English: Ceramic rim sherd of Roman date. Heavily abraded overhanging-rim sherd of East Gaulish Terra Sigillata (Samian ware); only traces of the glossy red slip have survived. Dragendorff type 36 dish or shallow bowl. The exterior of the rim is decorated, albeit now faintly, in a barbotine vine-scroll terminating in a peltate leaf.
