Summary edit

Description
English: Roman Road. Close by the Stape to Egton Road.

Also known as 'Wade's Causeway' - a name invented to explain the roadway in such a strange location. Wade being 'a giant' who built the road by carrying the stones into position.

It's believed that late in the Roman occupation, 3rd Century AD, the Romans may have simply improved an existing trackway due to 'security problems' to the North.
