Description
English: The city’s most important attraction, the Gothic style St. Michael’s Church, was built during the 14th and 15th centuries. Over the years it has been the setting for numerous historic events including one abdication (that of Queen Isabella – Regent of Hungary – in 1551), sittings of Parliament, and the elections of Princes of Transylvania.

The pulpit here was transformed into baroque. Golden adornments, carvings, basso relievo were used to decorate the church. You will find a statue of Archangel Michael on the acme of the pulpit crown.


Along with the Black Church from Brasov and the Evangelical Cathedral from Sibiu, St. Michael Church from Cluj is considered one of the most imposing Gothic buildings in Romania, 70 meters long and a maximum height of almost 80 meters.

Despite its impozing style, it must be specified that the building is not a cathedral, but a church.
