| Description |
English: Looking south from Firefighters Field at the steam power plant underneath the Queensboro Bridge, at East Main Street and East Road at approximately Manhattan 60th Street in the southern half of Roosevelt Island, Manhattan. The plant was built in the 1930s to power and heat the once-adjacent Goldwater Memorial Hospital to the south (now Cornell Tech), and the Coler Hospital at the far north end of the island. It is quite drab and depressing, even for an old power plant. |
