DescriptionRotherhope Fell Mine - Middle Level - geograph.org.uk - 534849.jpg |
English: Rotherhope Fell Mine - Middle Level Rotherhope (also Rodderup) Fell was mined for lead from at least the 1700s, operations on the site only ceasing in 1949. Several levels were driven under the moor to access the mineral veins. This is the Middle Level, now completely run in from the entrance portal, which was driven to access the mineralisation associated with the Scar Limestone. It is situated at about 381m above OD. Rotherhope Fell is private land and entrance is by prior written permission only. |
