Summary edit

Description
English: Rough grazing south-west of White Law Viewed from the permissive footpath that joins White Law and Yeavering Bell the whole hillside here is divided up by ancient field boundaries. Higher up the hill, on Swint's Law, three mounds were excavated in the 1850s and the remains of these are clearly visible on aerial photos and may be connected to the field system. It is unclear whether these are actually Bronze Age burial mounds as originally reported http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/search/fr.cfm?rcn=NSMR03-1459 The area on the far (south) side of the parish boundary wall has been investigated and revealed many hut circles and rectangular enclosures also of likely prehistoric date. Apparently, dense bracken growth prevented investigation of the area shown here to the north-west of the boundary http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/collections/nsmr03abstracts/1430.html
