English: Route of the Harlaxton ironstone railway. The railway (1941-74) crossed these fields straight ahead on a steep gradient to the reversing point at Swine Hill (SK8832) in the centre of this picture. From there it snaked down the escarpment to join the Denton Branch at Casthorpe Junction. See other photos nearby for more on the Denton, Woolsthorpe and Harlaxton railways and ironstone quarries. |
