editDescriptionRoutemaster bus RM1842 (BFW 544B, ex 842 DYE) Legsby, Lincolnshire, 2007 (2).jpg |
English: 1964 Routemaster bus RM1842 (reg. BFW 544B, ex 842 DYE), pictured in a field near Legsby, Lincolnshire. Pictured in November 2007, it is painted with slogans for the campaign for the G8 countries to cancel the debts of African countries, which was a theme of the 31st G8 summit held in Gleneagles, Scotland, in July 2005. RM1842 was new to London Transport in February 1964, and saw service until withdrawal in 1987. It was then sold and at some point, reregistered BFW 544B. It was converted for use as a mobile home, and latterly used as a 'protest bus' - used by campaigners to conduct a protest drive from Glastonbury to Edinburgh ahead of the G8 summit, gathering signatures in the process, for the Make Poverty History campaign - see this image. |
