| Description |
English: Royal Harbour, Ramsgate The Ramsgate Maritime Museum is housed in the 19th century clockhouse on the right which was once an outpost of the Royal Observatory and houses the Ramsgate Meridian, from which Ramsgate's own particular Mean Time - 5 mins 41 secs ahead of Greenwich - was calculated. The slipways in the foreground seem designed for working on large boats pulled up out of the water, there are stacks of large oak wedges alongside the nearer one for chocking up hulls. |
