| Description |
Inside the Meridian Building - the Telescope Gallery at Royal Obsevatory Greenwich. This is Troughton's transit telescope. Edward Troughton's 10-foot transit telescope. Made in 1816 for the Royal Observatory. It is displayed in it's original location on Bradley's Greenwich Meridian of 1750. Behind the clock is a Hardy regulator of an 1810 design. Plaque on the floor: Mr Lloyd's Standard 153.83 feet above the mean level of the sea (Phil Trans: 1831). |
