Description
English: Leo Lambert discovered Ruby Falls near Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1928 while spelunking in a limestone cave under Lookout Mountain. The stunning 145 foot waterfall he named for his wife is located more than 1,100 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain. He opened the cave as a public attraction in 1930 and today it is claimed as the tallest and deepest underground waterfall open to the public in the United States. The narrow path to the falls is accessed by an elevator and the cave's features and passages are creatively lit along the near half mile route.
