Description
English: Ruins of Old Wardour Castle During the Civil War in 1643 the castle had to be defended against a Commonwealth army. A garrison of about 50 soldiers and servants, along with Lady Blanche Arundell, conducted an heroic defence of the Castle, holding out for six days against 1300 of Cromwell's men. The Castle was never restored.
