Description
English: Rushy Pond, Black Heath This pond is on the highest part of Black Heath, on the edge of Puddletown Forest. There has been some clearance of scrub and rhododendron from around the pond as part of the "Hardy's Egdon Heath Project". The author Thomas Hardy (who was born and lived in a nearby cottage) wrote a poem entitled "At Rushy Pond". There are also stories that he had secret liaisons with his cousin Tryphene Sparks from Puddletown by this pond.
