| Description | La cappella russa è una cappella costruita in memoria dei soldati russi caduti prigionieri e morti durante la costruzione della strada attraverso il valico di Vršič . La cappella è decorata in uno stile ortodosso e esprime la fede dei soldati che sono morti qui. Fu costruita nel 1916 ed è anche la tomba di questi soldati. Il monumento sulla tomba ha la forma di una piramide con l'iscrizione in russo: "I figli della Russia". Il numero esatto di soldati morti è sconosciuto, si sospetta che durante la costruzione della strada siano morti da 170 a 300 soldati russi e da 10 a 80 austriaci. Solo l'8 marzo 1916, 110 soldati russi e 7 guardie austro-ungariche morirono a causa di una valanga. La cappella russa è iscritta nel registro dei beni culturali della Slovenia come monumento culturale di importanza locale. |
