Summary
editDescriptionRussell Court, Belfast - geograph.org.uk - 702716.jpg |
English: Russell Court, Belfast The Russell Court Hotel was built in the late 60s on the site of a terrace on the Lisburn Road. Damaged by bombs in 1974 and 1976, it never re-opened and lay disused for many years. It was acquired by the Belfast Improved Homes housing association (now Helm Housing) which converted the upper floors to apartments with the lower floors developed into office and retail space. The commercial space later became the associations offices. One interesting aspect of car parking was that the spaces at the front and rear were connected by an underpass through the building - constructed because of a change in levels. This was the part that was bombed. The underpass is now closed up as part of the Helm Housings offices.
My thanks to Helm Housing for supplying the information needed to make the caption accurate. |
