A Sé Catedral de Miranda do Douro é uma edificação maneirista, cuja traça se deve ao arquitecto Miguel de Arruda, embora as obras se tenham iniciado sob a orientação do arquitecto bragançano Pero de la Faia. A primeira pedra terá sido lançada em 1552, mas a conclusão da obra verificou-se já no período filipino. Orientado a sul, o templo tem planta cruciforme, com o transepto semelhante às naves. A fachada principal, em cantaria, mostra duas enormes torres que acentuam a verticalidade do imóvel. O pórtico renascença, de arco pleno, é encimado por um janelão moldurado de motivos geométricos. Estes dois vãos são ladeados por dois pares de colunas finas, que, no registo superior, emolduram dois nichos. Sobre esta composição axial inscreve-se um discreto frontão. A fachada possui ainda quatro janelas de verga recta, duas em cada registo. Ao alto, entre as duas torres, corre uma balaustrada. As duas torres que ladeiam a fachada dividem-se em três registos. Nos dois primeiros abrem-se janelas semelhantes às atrás descritas, enquanto no terceiro se abre uma ventana para sino.
