Description |
Niklaus Riggenbach (1817–1899) war ein Schweizer Ingenieur und Lokomotivbauer. Er ist Erfinder und Namensgeber des Zahnradbahnsystems Riggenbach, das durch den Einbau einer Zahnstange zwischen die Schienen eines Gleises, in die ein gezähntes Rad der Lokomotive eingreift, sicher stellte, dass auch sehr steile Strecken sicher befahren werden konnten. Auf dem Bild ist Riggenbach auf der Lokomotive Nr. 1 der Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn zu sehen. |
