Summary edit

Description
English: A couple of stock designs for the SKS carbine (one of my personal favorite rifle platforms) from 2004. This is just a Photoshop combination of a Yugo SKS with a Butler Creek stock and an AR-15 stock and grip. Tapco had just started production of a similar idea at the time, but it really was kind of crappy. I thought there had to be a better way.

Tapco probably had the right idea, though. The SKS is an inexpensive rifle and folks aren't going to pay a lot of money for a high quality stock to put on their cheap plinker.

Interestingly, the date stamp on the original illustration shows I was working on this before my company's first products had started shipping. The numbers suggest it was used to illustrate a memo to myself. Since I never throw anything away, I probably still have the memo filed somewhere.

I was new to the game. Problems with this design that are obvious to me now, just from looking at the illustration, include the pistol grip covering the trigger group release button; and the gas tube scout mount (the gas tube is not steady enough for an optics mount).
